Forum Post: FireFox DSView clients not allowing DSView viewers to install or access viewer plugins

Issue with Firefox no longer finds the AVCT viewer plug-in directory. Ever since Firefox 21 we have had to create the "plug-in" directory with new Firefox installs. Between Firefox version 21 and 31.7.0 the plug-ins directory was in the search path to install Firefox plug-ins. With Firefox version ESR 31.8.0 it no longer seems to search for the plug-ins in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\plugins. The solution is as follows: In DSView version 4.5.0.212 when downloading the new plugin for the Avocent viewer on the client system the plugin download will create a plugins directory in the home directory of \Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\. (Earlier versions of DSView software will require each client user to create the plugins directory manually.) After the plugins directory is created the user will need to type the following URL load the page about:config Accept the warning, and search for the plugins.load_appdir_plugins entry. Double click this line to toggle it from False to True The \plugins folder (e.g., on 32-bit Windows, C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\plugins) Note: Starting in Firefox 21, this location is no longer scanned unless the preference plugins.load_appdir_plugins is set to true.
