Q: What is the length of the Matrix transmitter breakout cable?

A: The transmitter comes with 3 foot cable (6 and 9 foot cables are available).

Q: What power supply do I need to power on the Matrix transmitter?

A: Matrix transmitters use power over Ethernet (POE). This power is supplied by the Matrix switch.

Q: How many master switches can I have in a cascaded Matrix system?

A:  There is one master switch. The other switches within the same cascade are slaves.

Q: How many switches can be cascaded?

A: Up to four Matrix switches can be cascaded without the Matrix Manager Software. For larger cascades, the Matrix Manager Software is required.

Q: How many switches can be cascaded using Matrix Manager Software?

A: The cascade limit is ten layers (chain links) with up to 2000 end points (not including the switches).

Q: Can I cascade my switches over fiber?

A: Cascading can be done with fiber convertors.

Q: Which Matrix receiver do I need for a VGA verses a DVI Matrix transmitter?

A: The Matrix receiver works with both the DVI and VGA Matrix transmitter.

Q: What internet browsers are supported for the Matrix Switching System and Matrix Manager Software?

A: Chrome, Firefox, IE and Safari browsers are supported for the OBWI/Manager (32-bit/64-bit).

Q: Is Force and Follow mode supported with the Matrix Switching System?

A: Force and Follow mode comes with the Matrix Manager and not the OBWI.

Q: Do I need Matrix Manager Software for each cascade instance or site where I have Matrix switches installed?

A: No, you do not need several copies of the software installed on each site or for each separate cascade configuration. You can add several sites/cascades to one centralized Matrix Manager Software site.

Q: What OS platforms do you support for Matrix Manager Software?

A: Matrix Manager Software is supported on the following OS platforms:

  • Microsoft® Windows® 2008 R2 64-bit
  • Linux® Red Hat® version 6.3

Q: Can external authentication be used on the Matrix Switching System?

A: No, the Matrix switch does not support external authentication. To use external authentication, the Matrix Manager Software (separate product) needs to be purchased separately.

Q: What browsers are compatible with the Matrix Switching System?

A: Chrome, Firefox, IE and Safari browsers are supported for the OBWI/Manager (32-bit/64-bit).

Q: Are there dedicated transmitter and receiver ports on the Matrix 32/20-port switches?

A: No, you can mix and match as long as you have open ports available.

Q: Can I Skype using the Matrix Switching System?

A: Yes, as long as you do not use USB Mic, you can fully use the Matrix Extender System for software such as Skype and other video conferences.
