I've read the article describing the PCI compliance fix available on the System / Global Properties Tab but this version does not have that option. The vulnerability is internal to the software and to date I haven't found where I can control it. Does anyone have another method to resolve the SSL vulnerability related to SOX compliancy? We've been through every configurable option within DSView so nothing within the menus are appearing to help.

Hi all, my acs6048 stops while booting at cacpd. So I think I have to recover it. My problem is that I have no tftp server in the same subnet and I have no physical access to the acs. I stopped auto boot. Can I set a gateway for the recovery ? Or can I recover it somehow else ? Kind regards, Reinhold.

Forum Post: SC740 - video on one channel only
We have just procured an SC740 for evaluation and we are having a problem. We use HP EliteDesk 800 G1 PCs with NVIDIA NVS 310 X16 graphics cards driving dual HP E241i monitors at 1920 x 1200 resolution. We are using DisplayPort to DVD-D cables from the PC to the SC740 and DVD-D cables to the monitors. Direct from the PC to the monitors is fine, but via the SC740 we only get a display on one monitor when both KVM inputs are connected to the same graphics card. If we connect one graphics card to port A of the SC740 and a different graphics card to port B of the SC740 we can see a display on both monitors. The problem only seems to arise when both ports of the graphics card are connected to the same channel of the SC740. Using Windows7. We have tried lower resolutions, recycling the power on the SC740 and the PCs, but still the same. Can anyone help? Danny

Avocent UMG 4000 won't connect to LDAP - Upgraded to 2_9_0_25 from 2_8_1_13 and now cannot connect to LDAP. Using the same settings, nothing has change on that end. Also had to create and upload a new CSR. It is quite simle from the GUI, am I missing a trick or something simple? in Avocent Support

Forum Post: UMG 4000 series gateways upgrade to 2.9.0.25, LDAP no longer working
I recently upgraded firmware on two UMG 4000 series gateways to 2.9.0.25 and both are suffering the same issue. Both devices will not authenticate using LDAP using web interface. They won't send any packets attempting to authenticate to AD server (packet capture on the AD server). I am able to use the shell and "testAuth" script and it authenticates, but if I use putty to ssh in to the UMG using AD credentials, the connection is cut off by the UMG. I have re-inserted all of the LDAP information and power cycled the device a number of times but I can't get LDAP authentication to work. I have also issued the command testConf -x to one of the boxes and I now can't even use the webpage to see the LDAP settings. The box keeps reloading the page. I can't set the LDAP settings either through the CLI. Keeps failing with "System got an error: exception:receiving message: 'com.emerson.dcima.messagebus.aaa.Config_GetLdapConfig$Response' value for type 'class com.emerson.dcima.messagebus.aaa.ENUM_LDAP_SSL_MODE' invalid 'yes' Receiving message 'com.emerson.dcima.messagebus.aaa.Config_GetLdapConfig$Response' enum 'class com.emerson.dcima.messagebus.aaa.ENUM_LDAP_SSL_MODE' has no enum value 'yes' result:exception" Could you please give me some commands to ensure the devices are working correctly?

ACS: When Network Time Protocol (NTP) is enabled in ACS, the ntpclient running on ACS will ask for time updates from the NTP server on a periodic basis. This one second adjustment would be reflected in our clocks on the next clock refresh after the leap second event. The clock refresh rate is 300s. Therefore, after the leap second event, the ACS could be one second off for a period of time; not to exceed five minutes. NTP in ACS can also be disabled using web UI, isolating it from NTP servers. ACS will re-synch its clock when it’s enabled. Issues related to ntpd are not applicable to ACS, as it does not implement ntpd.

It also provides information about how to install a Self-Signed Certificate to secure HTTPS connection and validate at the client-side PC, which you would ensure it is a correct identity. Figure 1: Replacing the Default UMG Root Certificate Figure 2: Import Third Party Certificate: Issuer and Certificate Equipment: Avocent Universal Management Gateway (UMG) Series installed firmware version 2.0.x or higher Linux machine installed OpenSSL 1.0.1e-fips (Feb 11, 2013) with 1.0.1e-30 package (Source: http://www.openssl.org ) Certificate Authority (CA) such as Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services Instruction: Step 1: Generate a Certificate Signing Request ( CSR ) and Private Key file Open a SSH connection to a Linux machine installed OpenSSL as a root previlege account. Do the following commands to generate two (2) files - CSR and Private Key file. [root@sun-redhat ~]# openssl OpenSSL> req -new -nodes -keyout private.key -out public.csr Generating a 1024 bit RSA private key .........++++++ .........++++++ writing new private key to 'private.key' ----- You are about to be asked to enter information that will be incorporated into your certificate request. What you are about to enter is what is called a Distinguished Name or a DN. There are quite a few fields but you can leave some blank For some fields there will be a default value, If you enter '.', the field will be left blank. Country Name (2 letter code) [GB]: US State or Province Name (full name) [Berkshire]: Florida Locality Name (eg, city) [Newbury]: Sunrise Organization Name (eg, company) [My Company Ltd]: Technical Operation Center Organizational Unit Name (eg, section) []: Emerson Network Power Common Name (eg, your name or your server's hostname) []: UMG-TSLab.asc.local Email Address []: TechSupport@Avocent.com Please enter the following 'extra' attributes to be sent with your certificate request A challenge password []: ******** An optional company name []: ********* OpenSSL> exit IMPORTANT NOTE: The Common Name in this example is using a FQDN, please ensure the DNS Server is able to resolve it. Open the public.csr file (obtained from Step 1) with a Text Editor to copy only the TEXT content. In the Saved Request Text Field, paste the TEXT content here. Note : Make sure that there is no extra space/ line at the end. Click Submit button Note: Your certificate request has been received. However, you must wait for your System Administrator to issue the certificate you have requested. 2.2 : Download an Approved Certificate For this example, we are downloading from a Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services Web Portal. Figure 3: Download approved certificate At the homepage of the Microsoft Active Directory Certificate Services Web Portal, click View the Status of a pending certificate request . If the certificate has been issued, you would see the Saved-Request Certificate (Data-Month-Time) link ready to download certificate(s). Click to download. For this example, we are selecting the DER encoded and download the .cer and . p7b file. Save the certnew.cer and certnew.p7b on your local hard drive. Under Third Party Certificate Import , enter and confirm the Certificate and key passphrase. Click Import . Browse to the certificate (.p12) file location and click Open . Click OK to confirm the correct format. Figure 4: Import Certificate supports only PKCS12 Format. Click Apply. Once the Certificate Import Success, click OK and Reboot the UMG appliance. Figure 5: Third Party Certificate Import Success Step 5: Install/ Import the Certificate on the client PC (for first time) using Internet Explorer (IE) Browser Login the Avocent UMG with FQDN , which is used when creating the CSR. Click Certificate Error Warring Icon to install a New Ceritificate (Figure 6). Click Install Certificate and place it in Trusted Root Certification Authorities (Figure 7). Accept/ Confirm the Security Warning Dialog (Figure 8). Close all browsers and re-open with the FQDN address. Note that the Certificate Error Warning is displayed as a Secured Lock icon ( Figure 9 ) . Click the Secured Lock Icon to review the Certificate Information (Figure 10). Environment: DSview 4.5.0.140 UMG 2.9.0.25 This is a known issue that is resolved in the upcoming UMG firmware scheduled for July 2015 release. The workaround for the moment is to create a matching UMG user/password with the same rights as the DSView user/password.

A quick overview of what we're doing... Called Avocent support to get a EAL4+ rack mounted KVM/switch that would work with a rack mounted LCD. We were provided with ecs17kmm-001(rack mounted LCD) and sc380-001 (8 port model KVM with DVI ports). Now when I hook up one of my servers directly to ecs17kmm-001 via vga to vga it shows fine. But when I go DVI to VGA it is not recognized from the same server. (DVI to VGA works fine on all other monitors when hooked up.) This now creates an issue seeing as they recommended a DVI KVM (sc380-001). Is this even possible? Why won't ecs17kmm-001 recognize a DVI cable dumbed down to VGA? What should I do?

So various pages (e.g. http://www.avocent.com/Legacy_Firmware_Updates/ESP_Serial_Hubs_and_SST_Serial_Products/ESP-4_MI_Flash_Componets.aspx ) say Contact Avocent Technical Support for the Socket Administration API protocol document. Is it possible to obtain a copy of this document? The protocol could be deduced from the Linux drivers, but they're a bit messy, to say the least. A simple protocol spec would make things much easier.
