Wiki Page: PM3000 not displayed in IPDU Power Mgmt page in ACS5000
Environment: PM3002V-401 firmware 2.0.1.22 ACS5008-105 firmware 3.3.0.16 Issue: ACS5000 does not detect the connected PDU with "Power Management" profile. ACS5000's serial session can access the connected PDU with "Console (Telnet/SSH)" profile though with the same cable connection. Repro steps: 1) Connect the PM3000 to one of the port of ACS5000 2) Login to ACS5000 WebUI 3) Configure the connected port to "Console (Telnet/SSH)" 4) Launch a serial session, it works fine. 5) Change the port profile to "Power Management" in ACS5000's WebUI. 6) Go to Applications > IPDU PowerMgmt, it shows "There is no iPDU available to be managed". Resolution: Option 1: Disable and enable the connected port in ACS5000 Option 2: Disconnect and reconnect the cable between the connected PDU and ACS Option 3: Reboot the PM (to close all sessions) Option 4: Reboot ACS Cause: ACS recognizes the presence of the PDU via DCD signal change. If for any reason the PDU is not recognized, it's necessary to cause DCD to go down and become active again. To achieve this, try unplugging and plugging again the PDU to ACS5k serial port if you have physical access. If not, disabling and enabling again the serial port PDU is plugged to the ACS5k may work. If it's still not recognized, rebooting of the PDU may be necessary for ACS to know PDU is connected and active. Note: Please do not login to PM3000 with "admin/pm8" credential because it should be used for special circumstance such as diagnostic, etc. This credential is NOT recommended for daily use by Engineering Team.

Forum Post: PM3000 serial connection to Cisco 2911 async (octopus) cable
Hello, We're using Cisco 2911 console servers to manage our devices out-of-band. So far we were able to connect to any device using a RJ-45 serial console port. However we haven't had any luck connecting to a Avocent PM3000. When connecting the green octopus cable directly to the RJ-45 console connector we only get garbage at the login prompt (console settings 9600/8/N/1). To be more precise, when the PM powers on the bios information is shown correctly on the Cisco terminal. However as soon as the PM has completed booting we get garbage. This looks like the Linux kernel is changing the CTS/DTR/DTS settings causing the output to be scrambled. Disabling flow control didn't change a thing. I also have tried to use the included RJ-45-to-RJ-45 adapter without any luck. Which Avocent adapter can be used to connect a PM3000 to a Cisco 2911 console server using the green octopus cable? I have seen references to ADB0200 and ADB0039 adapters but no clear answer. Did anyone have any luck with this? Thanks in advance, Stijn

Forum Post: Help with AutoView 3200 and LCD17 SRP001
Hi Guys, I recently put this gear into a new cabinet and for some reason I cannot for the life of me get OSCAR up, or for the LCD to play nicely with the 3200. Here're the tests I've done: - I can connect the LCD/Keyboard/Mouse directly to a server and it works flawlessly (using the same cable as used to the AutoView 3200). - I can connect the LCD to a different server with different (non-grouped/avocent cable) and works fine too! - I can connect to the 3200 over the serial port (and did a factory reset) - I can connect to the 3200 over the web interface - I have used a different keyboard (than the one in the LCD17 SRP001) and tried the print screen press there, no luck. - I have tried rebooting them in different orders, (first LCD, then 3200. First 3200, then LCD). - I have tried rebooting them with things plugged in, and without (a number of combinations) - I have upgraded the 3200 software to the latest version - I have tried a different set of cables to / from the LCD17 and the 3200 No matter what I do, I can't get OSCAR, nor anything at all, to display on the device itself. What am I missing?

Forum Post: Is the new Firmware V_3.1.0.8 for the ACS6000 series addressing the POODLE vulnerability?
Hello, I see that the new firmware released for the Avocent ACS6000 have a new Openssl upgrade. is this new version of openssl addresses the POODLE vulnerability? Also, it also mentions that ssl is no longer supported, does this mean that we have to configure TLS and is there an option to do it through the GUI? (The past firmware did not have this option) one more thing does this new firmware supports IE8 or the support begins at IE11.

Forum Post: No WEB console
Hello, all. I am using an Autoview 3008 from ayear ago, but a couple weeks ago, I find that the WEB console is´nt working. I have tested the IP, change the IP settings (it means IP adress, Gateway and subnet mask) even used DHCP, and everithing Works fine, but the WEB Console, neither using IE10, 11, Mozilla and Chrome, all of them indicate that there is no webpage available. I have tried several Java versions from 7u25. I already have updated the firmware to the latest version. I have tried with Win7x86 and x64, and W2k8Server without success. All other functions are ok. (it responds to PING and is detected by network monitoring apps). Someone had experienced this issue? And how do you had solved it? Thanks in advance.

Forum Post: RE: No WEB console
from your client, use command line *(CMD) and run a quick test for us here: telnet xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx 443 Hint xxx is for your IP of your device (AV unit) Should the screen come back clear the port is open and you should be allowed to reach the WebUI. Should you have a message such as "Cannot connect ...." analyze the response and most likely you have a network / firewall issue. I hope that helps

Forum Post: Connect to DSR2035 SETUP port from laptop w/o serial port
Hi, new to this forum. I ahve a DSR2035 and need to reset the network address as we moved Datacenter. I would like to use the SETUP port to reconfigure the network setting. Currently using the black adapter ( to RJ45) from Avocent KVM. I got no connection from the laptop using putty and SERIAL (COM1) setting. Checking the Managed Device in Windows7. I did not locate a com port that's loaded in the Devices. Questions: 1) Do I need a com port driver from Alienware? 2) From the SETUP port, I have the black RJ45 adapter, currently it's connected to an Ethernet cable to the Alienware network port, is that proper? If not, what's the correct connection? Thanks for your help in advance. Eric.

Forum Post: RE: Connect to DSR2035 SETUP port from laptop w/o serial port
Hello Eric, The DSR2035 came with the black adapter and 8-wire reversing cable A.K.A rollover cable, that's what need to be used in conjunction with the terminal software and correct settings: - The terminal settings are 9600 bits per second (bps), 8 bits, 1 stop bit, no parity and no flow control. Regards, Princhely.

Hello Michael, Based the provided details and screenshot, it seems that the viewer is in the process on installing on your local client machine however you don't seem to have local admin rights to install the viewer software. Also you are running a DSView version which has been discontinued for a while now, it would beneficial for you to get your environment updated in order to take advantage of the latest enhancements and fixes. The currently supported DSView versions are: 3.7.2.157 (32-bit) 4.1.0.166 (64-bit) 4.5.0.140 (64-bit) Latest release Regards, Princhely

Forum Post: RE: Unable to update firmware for AMX5000
Hello Dave, I am not sure why this is failing, but make sure that the CONF ID is the same, meaning if the AMX has 0000001 to make sure your AMWorks has the same. Should this not be the case then you have a problem.

Forum Post: RE: Unable to update firmware for AMX5000
Hello Dave, Make sure that the machine that has AMWorks installed doesn't have a firewall application actively blocking FTP traffic which AMWorks needs to transfer files to the appliance (switch). If you still have issues, please call into the technical support line (888-793-8763) in order to have a live a troubleshooting session with a technician. Regards, Princhely
